Dal Tarka

1 cup yellow lentils (moong or masoor)

1 onion (cleaved)

1 tomato (cleaved)

2 cloves garlic (minced)

1 tsp salt

½ tsp turmeric

1 tsp red bean stew powder

½ tsp cumin seeds

1 tbsp margarine

1 tbsp oil

  1. Bubble lentils with salt, turmeric, and water until delicate.
  2. Heat oil; add cumin seeds, onions, and garlic. Sauté until brilliant.
  3. Add tomatoes and red bean stew powder. Cook until delicate.
  4. Add this combination to the lentils and blend well.
  5. Top with margarine and serve hot with roti.
